They like Jesus – but not the Church!
This is an important teaching series on what the world thinks of Jesus - and what they think of the Church He commissioned to complete His work.
Every Christ-follower needs to be made aware of the world’s perceptions of the Church, and how we must all regain the sense of commission and purpose that Jesus left with us.
January 18: Ask someone today if he or she likes Jesus, and the answer is usually yes. But, ask if that person likes the church, and chances are you'll get a far less favorable response. We’re exploring some of the world’s impressions of the Church so we may be reminded of how Jesus expects His Church to behave towards seekers, searchers and skeptics.
January 25: When we tackle some of the issues of the world and explore the outsiders’ views of the Church’s [hypocritical?] stance toward the lost and wandering people of our world, will we be found loving or judgmental? Do we accuse – or point the way?
February 1: After looking at the unfavorable attitudes the world has about the church and some of the issues that the church gets wrong too often, it’s time to take a look at what these “outsiders” wish the church were like. Does it resemble what Jesus says about our mission?
This teaching series goes beyond being informative and eye-opening – we’re going to be instructed from God’s Word on how we’re supposed to be, and challenged to change our own behavior. We’re re-learning the purpose of Christ’s Church!
