Discipleship Teams

Discipleship Teams give new and growing Christ-followers the opportunity to study and pray together and build each other up on the road to becoming more like Jesus. Discipleship Teams meet weekly to invest in each other’s lives and be equipped in a way that brings forth real spiritual growth.

Discipleship Teams at Quarry Ridge are comprised of people in all stages of spiritual formation. To help people develop according to their own spiritual needs and at their own rate, we continue to identify what we call “Discipleship Competencies” of proper spiritual development, based on six “strengths” of an unconditional follower of Jesus Christ that we have identified in scripture: WORSHIP, LOVE, GROW, BELONG, SERVE, TELL.

The Ridge’s Discipleship Teams are led by trained, qualified Shepherds – lay-pastors in the church – who help the individual Christ-follow- ers grow and develop in these six “strengths.” The Shepherds become familiar with the Discipleship Competencies of each developmental stage, help each person of their Team assess their spiritual development, and work to personalize the instruction and discipling to help each individual progress in their spiritual walk.

Any attempt to quantify or describe stages of spiritual growth will most certainly fail to take into account every detail of growing in faith as well as the personal distinctives of each individual. However, we have attempted to identify the large strides a person will make from being a non-believer to becoming a person who shares their faith and develops other Christ-followers.
